Ryder – Online Shop Review
Ryder was founded in 2012 by Penny Brown, now working as Ryder’s design director. Her works are inspired by denim, leather and lace, with a modern vintage charm that is both nostalgic and free spirited.
Its online presence offers a tastefully designed platform that evokes a unique, homespun feel. A giant image greets the user onto the main page while the navigation rests just below the header. Crisp images in mid-sized banners take the spotlight after a few scrolls below. The page ends with a footer in a gray-lit area, containing a handful of helpful links.
The Ryder catalogue can be accessed through the ‘Shop’ link, where there appears a collection of crisply-shot set of clothes on a white background. The sub-categories line up on the left-hand corner of the page, all of them in stark silver colour. Each link becomes more obvious when hovered upon.
Product pages offer an interesting angle for the apparel. Other than the description tab, there is an accordion section offering information about the size & fit. Ryder lists down size measurements used in Asia, UK, US and Australia. There is also an accordion spot for Customer Care, allowing easy access for the guests.
Prices of the items offered in the Ryder website are from mid-range to upscale. The apparels are mainly targeted towards woman in their youth, preferably in their 20s to early 30s. Users can see a wide range of products within the store, with selections for clothing, jewellery, shoes, hats and other accessories. A specific gallery is made for its urban section, highlighting Ryder’s collaboration with the global brand, Urban Outfitters.
Ryder offers free Australian deliveries for orders above $50. A flat rate fee of $10 is incured on orders below that amount. The company makes use of Australa Post eParcel Express Service.
Meanwhile, international orders are charged with a flat rate of $30, regardless of the weight and the number of the items bought. The price indicated on the website is in Australian Dollars.
Returns, provided that the item has not been used and altered, with the original tags intact, is permitted. A Return Authorisation number is enclosed in the parcel and must be filled up when returning the package.
